Rhode Island police arrest 8 in drug, fraud cases

LINCOLN — Rhode Island State Police arrested eight people June 5 on charges ranging from drug trafficking to financial fraud.

The HIDTA Task Force arrested Milvio Ramirez, 30, of 147 Prudence Avenue, Apt. 1, Providence, on five counts of possession with intent to deliver Schedule II controlled substances.

The charges include possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, crack cocaine, cocaine, oxycodone and Adderall.

Ramirez was transported to the Lincoln Barracks for processing and later arraigned in Sixth Division District Court.

The Gaming Enforcement Unit arrested Todd A. Brown, 41, of 231 Washington Street, Central Falls, for possession of a Schedule I-V controlled substance under 10 grams.

Brown was charged with possession of crack cocaine and was processed at Lincoln Barracks before being transported to Third District Court for arraignment.

Gaming Enforcement Unit members also arrested Kemoy G. Haye, 35, of 6 Cass Road, Brockton, Massachusetts, on charges of larceny from a person 65 years or older and conspiracy.

Haye was processed at Lincoln Barracks and held overnight pending his appearance in Third Division District Court.

The Financial Crimes Unit made five arrests on fraud-related charges.

Kimberly Sousa, 58, of 5 Richardson Drive, Johnston, was arrested on two counts each of embezzlement and access to computer for fraudulent purposes.

Sousa was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released on $2,000 surety bail.

Sametta Karmo, 24, of 126 Ocean Street, Providence, was charged with larceny over $1,500.

Karmo was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released on $5,000 personal recognizance.

James Branch, 46, of 45 Arthur Street, West Warwick, was arrested on charges of obtaining property by false pretenses, giving false document to public official, fraudulently obtaining public assistance and conspiracy.

Branch was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released on $15,000 personal recognizance.

Danica Chase, 46, of 45 Arthur Street, West Warwick, faces the same charges as Branch.

Chase was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released on $15,000 personal recognizance.

Jacelyn Taymes, 39, of 107 King Phillip Street, Providence, was charged with obtaining property by false pretenses, giving false document to public official and fraudulently obtaining public assistance.

Taymes was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released on $10,000 personal recognizance.
