NEW HAVEN — Two drivers collided Wednesday morning on Ethan Allen Highway when one attempted to pass the other just before an oncoming tractor-trailer approached.

The crash occurred at approximately 8 a.m. near Lime Kiln Road, according to Vermont State Police.

Christopher Wyckoff, 57, of Bristol was traveling northbound behind Harold Tricou, 58, of New Haven when Wyckoff attempted to overtake Tricou by entering the southbound lane.

A commercial tractor-trailer was approaching in the southbound lane at the time.

Both drivers increased their speeds, and Wyckoff veered right, colliding with the driver side of Tricou’s 2004 GMC Sierra.

Tricou then veered right and sideswiped a guardrail along the roadway.

Both vehicles sustained cosmetic damage, with Wyckoff’s 2022 Subaru Outback damaged on the passenger side and Tricou’s truck damaged on both the driver and passenger sides.

Neither driver was injured in the crash.

Both operators were wearing seat belts and pulled off the roadway after the collision.

Weather conditions were clear and road conditions were good at the time of the crash.

Vermont State Police from the New Haven Barracks responded to the scene.
