COLCHESTER — At approximately 1:30 p.m. today, May 29, the Colchester Fire Department was dispatched to 131 Laker Lane, Colchester High School for a reported fire alarm activation.
Upon arrival, crews were met by school staff who reported they had manually activated the alarm after observing smoke in the kitchen area.
Firefighters quickly investigated and determined the source to be a malfunctioning piece of electrical equipment.
Working closely with school staff and Green Mountain Power, the issue was safely isolated at its source.
All students, faculty, and staff were able to evacuate the building safely and without incident.
