Man arrested after assaulting trooper during traffic stop in Danville

DANVILLE — A New Hampshire man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a Vermont State Police trooper during a traffic stop Monday evening.

Donald Gordon, 50, of Monroe, N.H., was arrested after becoming aggressive during a routine traffic stop for speeding on U.S. Route 2 near Jamieson Road at 6:59 p.m. on May 26.

According to state police, Gordon became disorderly while being detained and elbowed a trooper in the head.

Gordon was taken into custody and transported to the State Police Barracks in St. Johnsbury for processing.

He was later transferred to the Northeast Regional Correction Facility where he is being held on $5,000 bail.

Gordon faces charges of assault on a protected professional, resisting arrest, impeding, aggravated disorderly conduct and being a habitual offender.

He is scheduled to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court’s Criminal Division at 12:30 p.m. on May 27.
