Clifton Park woman charged with identity theft, grand larceny

CLIFTON PARK — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Schenectady woman on charges of identity theft and grand larceny following a fraud complaint in the town of Clifton Park.

Authorities said the investigation began after receiving a complaint Dec. 27 on Weston Drive.

Monica R. Mahabeer, 34, is accused of knowingly and fraudulently assuming another person’s identity and using that individual’s personal information to obtain goods and services valued at more than $2,000.

Mahabeer is further charged with stealing another person’s credit card information, according to officials.

She was arrested Thursday on a warrant issued by the Clifton Park Town Court, charging her with identity theft in the first degree, a class D felony, and grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class E felony.

Mahabeer was arraigned before Judge Brandi Burns in Clifton Park Town Court.

She was remanded to the Schenectady County Jail, where she is being held on separate charges.
