PORTSMOUTH — A Maine man was injured when his tractor-trailer overturned on an Interstate 95 on-ramp Thursday morning.
The crash occurred at 7:58 a.m. on May 22 when a State Trooper from the Troop A barracks discovered the rollover on the on-ramp from the Portsmouth Traffic Circle to Interstate 95 northbound.
Dean A. Merritt, 54, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, was driving a 2014 Peterbilt 388 truck towing a 2003 Heil Trailer loaded with concrete mixing dust when he failed to negotiate a curve.
The truck and trailer crossed the left shoulder of the on-ramp and overturned, according to the preliminary investigation.
Troopers helped Merritt out of the truck, and he was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Merritt was cited for negligent driving.
The on-ramp remained closed for approximately four hours while authorities investigated, removed the vehicle and cleaned up debris.
All lanes reopened at 12:03 p.m.
State Troopers from Troop A and Troop G barracks responded to the scene, assisted by Portsmouth Police Department, Portsmouth Fire Department, New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, and New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under investigation.
