Elderly driver injured in Lyndon crash at Route 114 intersection

LYNDON — An 80-year-old Lyndon woman suffered substantial injuries Sunday afternoon when her car was struck while attempting to merge onto Route 114.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:19 p.m. at the intersection of Route 114 and Lily Pond Road under cloudy skies with wet road conditions.

Nancy Lang was driving a 2023 Honda Accord when she attempted to merge onto Route 114 from Lily Pond Road, according to Vermont State Police from the St. Johnsbury barracks.

Lang’s vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Douglas Young Sr., 66, of Norway, Maine, who was traveling north on Route 114.

Lang was transported to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital for treatment of substantial but non-life-threatening injuries.

Young was evaluated by emergency medical services at the scene for minor injuries and was not hospitalized.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.

Both vehicles sustained major damage in the crash.
