GEORGIA — A single-vehicle crash on Georgia Shore Road sent an 18-year-old driver to the hospital with minor injuries Saturday afternoon.

State Troopers responded to the scene along with Georgia Fire and AmCare Ambulance personnel at 12:10 p.m. on May 17.

Morgan Jenkins of Georgia was traveling southbound on Georgia Shore Road when her 2009 Kia Spectra crossed the oncoming lane and exited the east side of the road.

The vehicle collided with a Green Mountain Power utility pole, breaking it in half.

Jenkins, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, had to be extricated from the vehicle.

She was transported to Northwestern Medical Center with what were later determined to be minor injuries.

The Kia sustained significant front-end damage and was considered totaled.

Traffic delays occurred in the area while crews worked to clear the scene and replace the damaged utility pole.

The crash happened during cloudy conditions with intermittent rain, resulting in wet road surfaces.
