HANNIBAL — State Police arrested a 25-year-old man who allegedly threatened officers with free weight plates during a domestic dispute response in Oswego County.
Troopers responded to 44 Carter Road in Hannibal at approximately 1:17 p.m. on May 15 for a reported domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, officers encountered Joshua J. Snyder, who was uncooperative and using weight plates to strike a vehicle.
Despite numerous requests to drop the weights, Snyder refused and advanced toward troopers in a threatening manner.
A trooper deployed a taser, which was effective, allowing officers to take Snyder into custody without further incident.
Snyder was evaluated by EMS at the scene and transported to Oswego Hospital for evaluation before being processed at State Police Fulton.
He faces multiple charges including Menacing a Police Officer, a Class D felony; Criminal Mischief with Intent to Damage Property, a Class A misdemeanor; and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, a Class D felony.
Snyder was transported to Oswego County Jail to await arraignment at Oswego County CAP Court.
State Police were assisted at the scene by the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department and the Fulton Police Department.
