COVENTRY — A 17-year-old driver and two passengers suffered minor injuries Thursday night when their pickup truck rolled over after swerving to avoid a deer on Pine Hill Road.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:03 p.m. about one mile north of Coventry Station Road, according to Vermont State Police.

Sienna Hopkins of Derby was driving south in a 2013 GMC Sierra when a deer entered the roadway, police said.

When Hopkins swerved to avoid the animal, the vehicle left the roadway, overturned down an embankment and came to rest in a field.

Hopkins and her two passengers were transported to North Country Hospital with suspected minor injuries.

A dog traveling in the truck was found uninjured nearby by Newport firefighters.

The vehicle sustained major damage in the rollover.

Newport Fire Department, Newport Ambulance Service, and Ray’s Towing assisted state police at the scene.
