DANVILLE — A 76-year-old St. Johnsbury woman crashed her vehicle after being forced off the road by another driver on U.S. Route 2 West near Windy Acres Road on Thursday.
State Police discovered the single-vehicle crash at 5:05 p.m. when they came upon Maurine Hennings’ 2022 Honda CRV with heavy front-end damage.
According to police, Hennings was traveling east on U.S. Route 2 when an unknown vehicle attempted to pass several cars, causing her to lose control and veer off the south side of the road, striking a tree.
Hennings was wearing a seat belt and did not sustain any injuries in the crash.
Witnesses described the other vehicle as a dark Subaru Impreza with a “WRLD” sticker in the rear window, which reportedly continued east at a high rate of speed without stopping.
The same vehicle was reportedly seen earlier traveling at excessive speeds and passing numerous cars on U.S. Route 2 in Cabot before the incident.
