BRATTLEBORO — A Guilford man was arrested Thursday morning after a traffic stop on Coolidge Highway revealed multiple violations, including driving under the influence.
James Smith, 31, was stopped by a Vermont State Police trooper from the Westminster Barracks at approximately 9:47 a.m. after the officer observed a motor vehicle violation.
During the investigation, the trooper determined Smith was driving with a criminally suspended license and was under the influence of alcohol.
Smith was also found to be in violation of active court-ordered conditions of release.
Additionally, Smith did not have a required ignition interlock device installed in his vehicle.
Smith was placed under arrest and transported to the Westminster Barracks for processing.
He was issued a criminal citation to appear before the Windham County Superior Court on May 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Smith faces charges of DUI, criminal driving with license suspended, violation of conditions of release, and violation of ignition interlock requirements.
