LONDONDERRY — A New Hampshire State Police cruiser was struck during a traffic stop on Interstate 93 after a driver failed to move over as required by law.
The incident occurred at 5:20 p.m. Monday, March 10, when Trooper Mark Lingerman of Troop B was conducting a traffic stop on I-93 southbound north of Exit 4.
Trooper Lingerman’s cruiser was parked in the right breakdown lane with its emergency lights activated when it was struck by a Subaru Forester.
The Subaru’s driver was identified as Margret Lambert, 82, of Litchfield.
No injuries were reported to Lambert, Trooper Lingerman, or the motorist who had been initially stopped.
Lambert was cited for violating RSA 265:37-a, commonly known as the state’s “Move Over Law.”
The law requires drivers to slow down and move out of lanes adjacent to emergency vehicles displaying red, blue, or amber lights.
Violators of the Move Over Law are subject to fines and additional penalties for subsequent offenses.
