FERRISBURGH — A New Jersey driver was cited for following too closely after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of VT Route 22A and US Route 7 Monday morning.
The collision occurred at approximately 9:22 a.m. when Kevin Higgs, 47, of Lake Hopatcong, rear-ended another vehicle stopped at a red light, according to Vermont State Police.
Troopers responding to the scene determined that Matthew Gileau, 39, of Rocky Hill, CT, was stopped in the northbound lane of VT Route 22A in his 2022 Ford Bronco when the crash occurred.
Higgs, driving a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, failed to stop and struck the rear of Gileau’s vehicle.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, and no injuries were reported.
Higgs was issued a citation for following too closely under 23 VSA 1039, which carries a fine of $220 and three points on his driving record.
The Vergennes Fire Department assisted troopers at the scene.
Road conditions were reported as dry, and weather was clear at the time of the crash.
