GROTON — A St. Johnsbury man crashed his car into a utility pole Tuesday morning after falling asleep while driving on Scott Highway, Vermont State Police said.
The crash happened around 10:29 a.m. near 1742 Scott Highway.
Police said Brock Houghton, 25, was driving a 2006 Honda Accord when he veered off the road, struck a utility pole and continued down an embankment into a field.
Houghton and his passenger, Erin Smith, 33, of St. Johnsbury, were wearing seat belts and reported no injuries, police said.
JTB Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
The road was dry at the time of the crash, and the weather was cloudy.
