LEICESTER — A collision between a truck and a pickup occurred at a railroad crossing on Old Jerusalem Road on Feb. 20 at approximately 8:21 a.m.

The crash involved a 2009 Sterling Truck L9500 Series, operated by Derek Underwood, 60, of Franconia, N.H., and a 2014 Ford F-250, operated by Stephen Henty, 58, of Cornwall, Vt.

According to authorities, Underwood was driving the truck in reverse on the railroad tracks when it failed to trigger the crossing signal.

Henty’s pickup entered the crossing and was struck on the passenger’s side by the rear of the truck.

The Ford F-250 was totaled, while the Sterling Truck sustained minor rear-end contact damage.

Neither driver reported injuries, and both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The railroad signal was found to be functioning properly after the incident.

The cause of the signal malfunction prior to the crash remains under investigation.

Road conditions at the time were snowy, and the weather was clear.
