PORTSMOUTH — A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Lafayette Road and Mirona Road on Feb. 8 resulted in one fatality and two injuries.
The Portsmouth Police Department and Portsmouth Fire Department responded to the scene at approximately 4:09 p.m. after a Dodge 1500 pickup truck struck the rear of a Toyota Camry in the northbound lanes of Lafayette Road.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 70-year-old Judd Reed of Eliot, Maine, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver and passenger of the Toyota Camry were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the same hospital.
The northbound lane of Lafayette Road was closed at Mirona Road for several hours as authorities investigated the crash.
Preliminary investigations indicate that reckless driving and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
