BOW — Two teenagers were apprehended by a New Hampshire State Trooper on Interstate 93 northbound for driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph in separate incidents mere hours apart.

At around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, Trooper Conor Davis from the Troop D barracks detected a 2008 BMW 3 Series racing at 109 mph in a zone with a speed limit of 65 mph.

The driver, 17-year-old Benjamin Goodell of Claremont, was summoned to appear in Concord District Court on charges of reckless operation.

The second incident occurred in the early hours at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, when Trooper Davis spotted a black 2013 Volvo S60 hurtling down the highway at 124 mph in the same 65 mph zone.

In a risky maneuver, the driver switched off the vehicle’s lights as Trooper Davis approached.

The driver turned them back on and stopped when the trooper got closer.

The Volvo’s driver, 18-year-old Alizah Johnson of Concord, was arrested for reckless operation and disobeying an officer.

She was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled for a court appearance in Concord District Court on a later date.

The New Hampshire State Police are seeking additional information regarding the incidents.
