PUTNAM — A Putnam man was arrested Monday evening after allegedly threatening to commit violence at the Putnam Municipal Complex, according to the Putnam Police Department.
The investigation began around 4:30 p.m. when a town employee reported concerning posts on social media to the police.
The posts, made by Brian A. Sergel, 41, of 491 Church Street, included threats to use a firearm against municipal employees and the complex.
Sergel was arrested without incident at approximately 7 p.m. and has been charged with first-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.
He was processed and is being held on a $25,000 cash or surety bond.
Sergel is scheduled for arraignment at the GA 11 Danielson Superior Court on Jan. 28.
No further information has been released as the case remains under investigation.
