Driver flees after crashing into Jamaica resident’s garage

JAMAICA — In the early hours of Wednesday, Vermont State Police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run accident involving a vehicle that struck a garage on VT-30.

The incident, which occurred between the late evening of Jan. 18 and the morning of Jan. 19, left 77-year-old Carol Haas with property damage to her garage.

Authorities arrived at the scene at 8:24 a.m. after receiving the report of the collision.

The suspect, who has yet to be identified, had driven off the road for unknown reasons and collided with Haas’s garage before leaving the scene.

The vehicle involved and the driver’s whereabouts remain unknown.

The Vermont State Police are actively seeking information from the public that could lead to the identification of the individual responsible for the crash.

Trooper Mark Pepperman of the Westminster Barracks is handling the investigation and urges anyone with information to come forward.
