FERRISBURGH — A 26-year-old Vergennes man was arrested early New Year’s Day on suspicion of driving under the influence and excessive speed, Vermont State Police reported.
According to authorities, at approximately 12:23 a.m., troopers were conducting speed enforcement on RT 7 near Greenbush Road when they clocked a vehicle traveling at 86 mph in a 50 mph zone.
The driver, identified as Steven Barrera, showed signs of impairment during the traffic stop and was screened for DUI.
Following the assessment, Barrera was taken into custody and transported to the New Haven State Police Barracks for processing.
After the processing, Barrera was released with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division on Jan. 13 to respond to charges of DUI #1 and Excessive Speed.
