FAIRFIELD — On Dec. 21, at approximately 8:31 p.m., the Fairfield Police Department responded to a report of a stolen delivery vehicle on the 200 block of Woodrow Avenue in the Southport section of Fairfield.
According to the police, a delivery driver was robbed of their vehicle at gunpoint.
The driver, who was delivering a package, left the vehicle for a moment when an unidentified male suspect, dressed in black and wearing a face mask, entered the vehicle through an open passenger-side door.
When the driver attempted to stop the theft, the suspect displayed a firearm and drove away with the van.
The driver was not injured and sought help from nearby residents to call the authorities.
Using a tracking application, the police located the abandoned delivery vehicle at the intersection of Gray Rock Road and Daves Lane.
While the driver’s personal items were found, several packages were reported missing from the van.
The Detective Division of the Fairfield Police Department is actively investigating the incident.
They are canvassing the area and reviewing surveillance video from surrounding properties.
