St. Albans cashier assaulted in Market 32 robbery

ST. ALBANS — A male suspect robbed Market 32 late Saturday night, assaulting a cashier and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Authorities responded to the scene at approximately 10:45 p.m. after reports of an assault and robbery at the supermarket.

According to the St. Albans Police Department, the suspect made a small purchase and waited for the cashier to open the cash drawer before forcibly taking the money.

During the incident, the cashier attempted to thwart the robbery but was assaulted by the suspect.

The employee did not sustain serious injuries, and no weapon was involved in the crime.

The suspect is described as a white male with receding light-colored hair, possibly light red or blonde.

He was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, blue jeans, black shoes, and has a tattoo on his right upper forearm.

After the robbery, he was observed leaving the parking lot on foot heading towards Rt. 7.

Police have released images from the supermarket’s surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the suspect.
