Derby Line residence targeted in hate-motivated burglary, vandalism

DERBY LINE — State Police are investigating a hate-motivated burglary and vandalism that occurred at a residence on Caswell Avenue in the village of Derby Line.

Authorities were notified of the incident on July 6 at approximately 12:40 p.m. after the homeowner reported a break-in.

According to the initial investigation, the perpetrator entered the home, committed vandalism, and painted racial slurs on the interior walls.

The Vermont State Police have issued a call for assistance from the public.

Investigators are urging anyone with information related to the crime to contact the Derby Barracks.
