SALEM — New Hampshire State Police arrested James R. Allen, 58, of Salem, after he led troopers on a high-speed chase through several jurisdictions early this morning.

Allen was charged with a number of crimes, including reckless conduct and aggravated driving under the influence.

According to authorities, troopers were alerted to a suspect vehicle that had fled from the Dover Police Department.

After locating the vehicle at a business in Lee, a pursuit began along Route 4.

The Nissan Versa, driven by Allen, continuously traveled at an excessive rate of speed and failed to maintain a single lane of travel.

The pursuit continued until the Northwood Police Department was able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device.

Despite deflating the tires, Allen continued driving until he entered an empty parking lot in Epsom.

There, he was apprehended by Sergeant Gary Wood Jr. and his K-9 partner, “Ida”.

Allen was determined to be impaired and was processed at the Rockingham County Jail.

He is scheduled for arraignment today.

The incident remains under investigation.
