FERRISBURGH — A two-vehicle crash on US Route 7 in Ferrisburgh sent one person to the hospital with back pain, Vermont State Police said.

The crash occurred around 12:21 p.m. today near the Starry Night Café, according to a police report.

Troopers on patrol came upon the scene and found a 2018 Ford Expedition, driven by Wayne Lachat, had been struck by a 2003 BMW 325iT driven by June Hendrick.

Hendrick, 69, entered US Route 7 from a private driveway off the southbound lane without yielding to Lachat, 57, who was traveling south at a reasonable speed.

The front end of Hendrick’s BMW struck the passenger’s side of Lachat’s Ford, forcing it into the northbound lane.

Lachat’s vehicle then returned to the southbound lane before leaving the roadway and overturning.

The BMW sustained front-end contact damage, while the Ford was totaled, the report stated.

No one was injured in the BMW, but Lachat was transported by ambulance to the University of Vermont Medical Center with suspected minor back injuries.

Troopers were assisted on scene by members of the Vergennes Police Department, Vergennes Area Rescue Squad, and Ferrisburgh Fire Department.

This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Vermont State Police at 802-388-4919.
